Underwater Mattress Installation Frame (MIF)
Mild Steel Fabrication
The Underwater Mattress Installation Frame (MIF) was Fully Laser Cut and Fabricated in house by AG Brown then Welded by our Coded Welders.
The MIF provides a safer, more efficient alternative to diver-aided mattress installation. The MIF features a hydraulic release mechanism to ensure the precise placement of mattresses during installation operations.
Weighing in at 3.5tons MIF Measures 6660mm x 3600mm x 1500mm and has capacity to carry & place 2 x 10tons Mattresses.
'Get Up Safe' GUS system
Mild Steel, Stainless Steel & Aluminium Fabrication
AG Brown fully fabricated 165 'Get Up Safe' GUS systems for our client for the Hornsea Two offshore wind Farm. All components were Laser cut, Folded & Welded in house from Stainless Steel, Mild Steel & Aluminium before being shipped out for its final coating.
Hornsea Two, which is the world’s largest offshore wind farm on completion in 2022, will be the first ever offshore wind farm to deploy the GUS system.
The addition of the revolutionary GUS system means external ladders are no longer necessary, streamlining the foundation and reducing steelwork requirements – boosting both safety and the potential for construction and through-life cost reductions.
With the GUS system in place, technicians will be lifted and lowered directly between crew transfer vessel and the platform. This removes the need for technicians to step between the bow of the vessel and the ladder; a potentially dangerous operation that requires skilled co-ordination to be carried out safely during variable weather conditions, and eliminates a tiring climb, which can be up to 20 metres in length.
FloWave Simulation Tank
Mild Steel & Stainless Steel Fabrication
AG Brown Laser cut, folded and welded 168 Absorbing Paddles, Hundreds of Bellow Joint Rings, 28 Turning Vanes & 26mtr Gantry for our Client to create this amazing 25mtr diameter wave tank at The University of Edinburgh.

FloWave is a truly unique facility. Consisting of a 25-metre diameter, 2-metre deep circular basin, it creates highly repeatable waves and currents that mimic real-life coastal waters. FloWave is extensively used for the testing of scaled down prototypes of new ocean technologies as well as for ocean based academic research.
Queensferry Crossing
Mild Steel & Stainless Steel Fabrication
AG Brown supplied in excess of 20,000 Various Doubler Plates, Splice Plates, Shim Plates, Lifting Lugs, Bearing Plates and all the Cast in Ring Plates that support the 288 massive cables that are such a vital and prominent feature of the crossing.

The 1.7 miles (2.7km) structure is the longest 3-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world. It is also by far the largest to feature cables which cross mid-span.
This innovative design provides extra strength and stiffness, allowing the towers and the deck to be more slender and elegant.
The Queensferry Crossing is Scotland’s largest infrastructure project for a generation.
Pipe Grab Frame
Mild Steel Fabrication
AG Brown had to pull out all the stops to fabricate this in time and get it loaded onto a ship ready to be used as part of a massive sub sea pipe recovery project.
Weighing in over 15,000kg this fabrication was completed on time including 100% Magnetic particle inspection (MPI) & Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
Wind Turbine Jacket Transport Wedge
Mild Steel Fabrication
AG Brown Fabricated 6 Upper Jacket Transport Wedges, 4 Upper Jacket Trestles & 8 Lower Jacket Trestles.

These are used to support the main jackets that form the base of the off shore wind turbine as they are moved around during various stages of the fabrication processes for the Neart na Gaoithe (NNG) project being built off the Fife coast.

NnG will provide power for around 375,000 homes and will offset more than 400,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
United Kingdoms Air Craft Carriers
Laser Cutting
AG Brown Fabrications Ltd have Laser cut in excess of 10,000 flanges for both Aircraft Carriers during the construction phase in Various Sizes from 70mm diameter > 3.5mtrs diameter, These profiles form part of the 55,000 metres HVAC Ductwork systems.

Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers are the biggest warships ever built for the Royal Navy, and the most advanced. The are our nation’s flagships, and will be for the next 50 years, as they embark on our most vital global deployments.
MPF Frame
Mild Steel Fabrication
AG Brown Recently completed heavy fabrication work for the MPF 'Multi-Purpose Frame' It is a bespoke designed tool carrier to aid in different offshore scopes, including rock installation, and in the picture below, pipe recovery. The MPF has been enhanced beyond its previous design, with its SWL now increased to 50Te. In addition to this, and specifically for pipe recovery, two actuated rams are installed to control the position of the two pipe grabs. This gives the operators flexibility on scopes to position the grabs in relation to the size of the cut pipeline.
